Medical Education

Medical education is undergoing substantial changes on a national level in response to a range of factors.  Projected shortages of physicians, a declining primary care workforce, and continued impediments to enhancing the diversity of the medical profession have led national organizations to undertake a fundamental reassessment of the purpose and structure of medical education in the 21st century.  Two important recent national reports describe many of these changes:

Scientific Foundations for Future Physicians, published jointly in 2009 by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
